EOS Mainnet Launch Countdown: Bithumb Will Do the Token Swap for You

EOS mainnet launch

The EOS mainnet launch countdown continues: there are now five more days until EOSIO 1.0 launches. Are you ready?

In case you hadn’t heard yet, EOS is going live on June 2nd. This means that the token is separating from its identity as an ERC20 token on Ethereum and is becoming its own entity. And this means that you need to register your EOS tokens – otherwise, you’ll lose them forever.

If you bought your EOS tokens from an exchange, you need to register them by June 1st. Not sure how to register? Check out our step-by-step guide for registering your EOS tokens.

But good news! Several exchanges will be doing the EOS token swap for you, so you don’t have to worry. These exchanges include Binance and Bitfinex, and now also Bithumb.

Exchanges Support EOS Token Swap

Binance, Bitfinex, and Bithumb will all be supporting the EOS token swap. This means that the exchanges will automatically take care of the registration and swap process for you.

Binance released a blog post about their support several months ago. The team stated that:

“Binance would like to confirm that we will support the EOS MainNet Token Swap. We will handle all technical requirements involved for all users holding EOS.”

Both Bitfinex and Bithumb released tweets declaring a similar promise and discussed the process on their own sites.

Bitfinex stated, “As EOS transitions from Ethereum to the EOS MainNet chain, Bitfinex will manage all technical requirements for our users to ensure a smooth token registration process for those holding EOS on Bitfinex.”

Bithumb’s announcement was in a similar vein: “For our member[s], once EOS fund is deposited in Bithumb account, this will be automatically converted on the basis of 1:1 ratio. And no further actions are required in this case.”

So if you’ve got your EOS tokens on an exchange supporting the token swap, you’re in the clear. Otherwise, you’ll need to do the work yourself.
