It has been a pretty stagnant day on the cryptocurrency market, as most are seeing only minor gains or losses across the board. Stellar (XLM) and Ethereum Classic (ETC) are among the biggest gainers for today at an average of a 10% gain. Here are some updates on how some coins are panning out on the market today.
The price of Ethereum has been leveling off this past week. Exactly a month ago, it hit its all-time record high above the $1,400 mark but has since been on the decline. Ethereum developers, led by the founder himself Vitalik Buterin, are steady at work on attempting to scale the network with “sharding.” This would split the Ethereum blockchain into smaller chains named “shards” that will be validated by a group of nodes that are able to communicate with the main chain.
Another scaling solution is in the works as well, named Raiden. It aims at speeding up the payment process across the network, by way of an individual smart contract.
Currently, ETH is being traded for $854.46 a coin, down -1.69%, in 24 hours.
If the teams can fix the current scalability issue, Ethereum has the chance to pass Bitcoin this year by its total market cap price.
Ripple’s price moved above the $1.10 mark last week but has since dropped near the $1.00 mark. It is rather surprising that the coin hasn’t jumped today, as news broke yesterday of Ripple’s new partnership with the UAE exchange. Ripple’s value comes from its functionality and adoption. Ripple focuses on large banks and institutions to help them with the cross-border payments.
Currently, XRP is selling for $1.04 a coin, down -3.59%, in 24 hours.
Lisk made some major moves this weekend and has passed TRON (TRX) for the 15th largest cryptocurrency by market cap. However, Ethereum Classic has passed them both now and sits at the #14 spot. Lisk has been making some major moves in the cryptocurrency space these past months and could seriously break into the top 10 very soon. Keep your eyes on this altcoin, if you haven’t already added it to your portfolio.
At press time, LSK is trading for $27.72 a coin, down -1.01%, in 24 hours.
Tron had a booming start the end last week, as Tron Dogs published a mobile version. The coin saw almost 30% gains but has since simmered off. This weekend, Justin Sun, Tron’s founder, held a ‘technical team’ live stream if you’d like to catch it click here.
At press time, TRX is trading for $0.043 a coin, down -4.97%, in 24 hours.
