Litecoin (LTC), IOTA (MIOTA), & Stellar (XLM) Update

Altcoin Update

Cryptocurrencies are up today, after slight correction yesterday. The major exchange Binance shut down unexpectedly after its team prompted an unexpected “upgrade.” The upgrade to the system came without any prior warning to its users and encountered a glitch. Users were unable to trade or withdraw any of their funds on the platform. However, it has resumed, and business is back to usual.

The cryptocurrency market is booming. It seems that despite countries, like China, attempting to regulate cryptocurrencies, most investors have gained some confidence. Here are some coins gaining some steady speed on the market.

Litecoin (LTC)

Litecoin had some major news recently, as it’s price was on a strong decline since the third week of December. Litecoin Core 0.15.1 was just released this week, which added new features, improved performance and fixed some bugs. Many consider this coin underrated, as it was pushed in the shadows by the newer faster coins that have emerged. The litecoin network has larger block sizes which makes it ultimately cheaper and faster than it’s rival, Bitcoin. While it has no specific “special” additions to its blockchain like Ethereum (ETH) and NEO, it remains a top contender in the cryptocurrency space.

IOTA hasn’t been in any news headlines the last couple of weeks and has been on the decline. Just recently, however, it was reported that the city of Taipei is testing IOTA’s technology for its countrywide citizen identification process. The system is called ‘Tangle’ which is IOTA’s answer to the blockchain.

Currently, MIOTA is trading at $1.95 a coin, up 9.06%, in 24 hours.

Stellar (XLM)

Stellar is among the top gainers in today’s market. The sixth Stellar Build Challenge deadline is closely closing in and the grand prize is a grand total of 550,000 Stellar Lumens.  This challenge is a program that encourages innovation development using the Stellar Network. It pushes the boundaries of the possibilities of the technology. Will Stellar pass Ripple this year? That remains unknown but it is fun to watch these two projects dual, even though they both have different target audiences.

Currently, XLM is trading at $0.39 a coin, up 10.41%, in 24 hours.
