Coins on the crypto markets are both sinking and floating today. Monero (XMR), Ethereum (ETH), and Stellar (XLM) are all up, while Ripple (XRP), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), and Cardano (ADA) are down.
We are going to be focusing on Monero (XMR), Ethereum (ETH), and Stellar (XLM) today.
Monero (XMR) is currently selling for $231.81. This puts Monero (XMR) up 4.69% in the past twenty-four hours. Monero (XMR) is ranked as the 10th largest cryptocurrency, with a current market cap of $3.71 billion. It is ranked below NEO and before Dash (DASH).
Monero (XMR) is a coin that has been making headlines as of late. Some have chosen to focus on the news that Circle, a blockchain startup, added Monero (XMR) to its list of offerings, while others are looking to see whether Monero (XMR) has the potential to hit $1,000 before October of this year. With that being said, not everything is rainbows and butterflies in the Monero (XMR) world. There is, in fact, a dark cloud hanging over the altcoin.
Reports have now surfaced that there has been yet another hacker attack conducted by Coinhive, which is a mining software that mines XMR without people knowing. Despite this, however, Monero (XMR) is up Wednesday.
Ethereum (ETH) is currently selling for $746.56. This puts Ethereum (ETH) up 1.45% in the past twenty-four hours. Ethereum (ETH) holds the title of being the second largest cryptocurrency, with a market capitalization of $74.15 billion. Ripple (XRP) is far behind, with a market cap of $31.40 billion.
Just like Monero, Ethereum (ETH) has been making headlines lately. Last week, the co-founder of Ethereum hinted that sharding improvements would be coming to the Ethereum network. That same week, it was disclosed that someone in South Korea had recorded the Panmunjom Declaration on the Ethereum blockchain.
Furthermore, it was also disclosed last week that the government was thinking about regulating Ethereum (ETH). This caused Ethereum (ETH) to drop, and the meeting supposed between SEC and CFTC officials was scheduled for Monday. Word broke yesterday that this meeting never even happened.
That brings us to this week’s announcements. Yesterday, reports surfaced which stated the very first version of Ethereum’s Casper code has been put out into the world.
The first release of the Casper the Friendly Finality Gadget (FFG) update code, designed to change the consensus mechanism in the Ethereum network, is published on GitHub for study by external auditors and developers.

Stellar (XLM) is currently selling for $0.385196. This puts Stellar (XLM) up 0.03% in the past twenty-four hours. Stellar (XLM) is ranked as the 7th largest virtual currency.
Similar to the two other coins on this list, Stellar (XLM) has some interesting things happening as well. On May 1, it was announced Stellar (XLM) is now trading on Bitfinex. This Friday, May 11, Stellar (XLM) will begin trading on Coinbit, along with 49 other cryptocurrencies.
